Ann Arbor Huron field hockey is scheduled to face Saline in an MHSAA regional playoff game at Northville High School on Thursday, Oct. 22, at 5 p.m.

The River Rats lost to the Hornets 8-0 earlier this month in the regular season, a game called early under the mercy rule. Six Saline players scored in that win, according to The Saline Post. Thursday is an elimination game, and Huron gets another shot.

Saline coach Sophia O'Connor said after the win that her team had found its footing early.

"We've definitely hit our stride. We started off strong. We scored twice in the first three or four minutes," O'Connor said.

The Saline Post’s Oct. 12 report listed the Hornets at 14-2-0 before their regular-season finale, with both losses against Ann Arbor Pioneer.

Saline has kept rolling in the postseason. The Hornets opened the playoffs Tuesday, Oct. 20, with another 8-0 mercy-rule victory, this time over Brighton at Hornet Stadium, The Saline Post reported. Elle Pufpaff scored four goals. Ella Arvai and Emily Sontag each added two, with Sontag's fourth-quarter goal triggering the mercy rule. Goalie Kaylee Mitzel returned from an injury and split the shutout with Jett Fager.

MaxPreps lists Huron at 1-10 overall, with one goal scored and 63 allowed across its 11 reported games.

State semifinals are scheduled for Oct. 28 at Canton, with the championship set for Oct. 31 at Michigan State, according to the MHSAA.

The game is listed for live streaming on the NFHS Network. A subscription is required to watch.
