Ann Arbor's fire and police departments will hold a public ceremony on Friday, Sept. 11, to mark the 25th anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attacks.
The memorial service begins at 9 a.m. in front of Fire Station No. 1, 111 N. Fifth Ave. The city expects the ceremony to last about 90 minutes, according to a city announcement.
Five officials are scheduled to speak: Fire Chief Mike Kennedy, Police Chief Andre C. Anderson, City Administrator Milton Dohoney Jr., Mayor Christopher Taylor and Debbie Dingell, who represents Ann Arbor in Congress.
The service will honor all who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. That includes the 343 New York City firefighters and 60 officers from the New York City Police Department and Port Authority Police Department killed in the line of duty.
Residents who cannot attend in person can watch the ceremony livestreamed on the City of Ann Arbor Facebook page.
