A store clerk fired a gun at a man who pulled a weapon during an attempted armed robbery Thursday, Aug. 27, at Ann Arbor Stamps & Coins on Washtenaw Avenue.
No one was injured. Nothing was taken from the store.
The robber walked into the shop at about 1:50 p.m. and produced a firearm, the Ann Arbor Police Department said in a release, as MLive reported. The clerk then pulled a gun and fired one shot at the robber, police said.
The man fled the store with a second person who had already been inside at the time of the attempted robbery. Police searched the area but were unable to locate either man.
The department has not released physical descriptions of either individual. The only known image of the second man comes from the store's surveillance footage.
On Friday, Aug. 28, the AAPD posted on Facebook asking for the public's help identifying the second man captured on camera. The department described the location as a business in the 3000 block of Washtenaw Avenue. Ann Arbor Stamps & Coins, a coin and stamp dealer, operates at that address.
Police have not said whether the clerk legally possessed the firearm or whether the clerk faces any charges. The investigation remains open, and no arrests have been announced.
