Ann Arbor District Library and Ypsilanti District Library cardholders can ride any of TheRide's local fixed-route buses for free every Saturday and Sunday through Sunday, Aug. 30.
No registration or special pass is needed. Riders show a valid library card when boarding.
The summer partnership between TheRide and the two library systems launched Saturday, June 13, and covers all local fixed routes across the Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti area. TheRide reminded cardholders on its X account Friday, Aug. 7, that they still have time to take advantage of the program before it wraps up at the end of the month.
The transit authority also posted on Facebook Saturday, Aug. 8, asking residents whether they have a library card and letting them know it's good for free rides every remaining weekend.
Four weekends remain in the program: Saturday, Aug. 8–9, Aug. 15–16, Aug. 22–23 and Aug. 29–30.
The offer applies to all of TheRide's local fixed-route service, which operates throughout Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. Riders can plan trips and check schedules at TheRide.org.
The program is described as part of AADL's summer programming, connecting library cardholders to no-cost weekend transit for errands, recreation, trips to the library or any other destination on TheRide's network, according to a post by SOS Community Services.
Neither TheRide nor the libraries have named a spokesperson on the record about the program's origins or whether it will return next summer. All public announcements have come through the organizations' social media accounts.
The last day to ride free is Sunday, Aug. 30.
