Michigan defensive ends coach Lewis Powell wants more pass rushers on the field when No. 11 Oklahoma visits the Big House on Saturday, Sept. 12.

Powell told reporters Wednesday, Sept. 9, that he plans to expand his defensive end rotation against the Sooners. Freshman Carter Meadows, sidelined since a fall camp injury, returned to practice Tuesday, Sept. 8, and could see his first game action.

"There was a couple guys that weren't ready (against the Broncos). They're still nagging injuries, but they should be all back this week," Powell said, according to The Michigan Daily. "And I think you'll see a little bit more rotation this week."

The rotation news comes after Michigan's defensive front held Western Michigan to four field goals and no touchdowns in the Sept. 5 opener. Senior John Henry Daley, a Utah transfer and former first-team All-American, and junior Dom Nichols posted the unit's two highest PFF defensive ratings. Nichols recorded a career-high 2.5 tackles for loss.

Sophomore Nate Marshall and senior Cam Brandt combined for four tackles on limited snaps. Powell said Western Michigan's use of 12-personnel packages favored Daley and Nichols, limiting Brandt's time despite Powell considering him for a starting role before the game.

Oklahoma presents a different challenge. The Sooners posted 401 yards of offense and allowed just one sack in a 51-0 win over UTEP on Friday, Sept. 4. Their offensive line returns three starters who began as true freshmen in 2025 and added transfer E'Marion Harris.

Powell singled out sophomore left tackle Michael Fasusi, a team captain and freshman All-American who allowed only four sacks across nearly 400 snaps last season.

"Their left tackle, number 56, is one of the best offensive tackles in the country," Powell said. "He's young, he's only a sophomore, but he's shown the reason why he started last year as a true freshman."

Michigan has lost both previous meetings with Oklahoma, including a 34-13 defeat in 2025. The Wolverines dropped out of the AP Poll after their narrow win over Western Michigan, while the Sooners enter ranked No. 11.

Saturday's game marks Oklahoma's first trip to Michigan Stadium. Kickoff is noon on FOX.
