Seven bus routes across Ann Arbor have been running on new schedules since Sunday, Aug. 23, as TheRide rolls out its fall service adjustments alongside ongoing detours tied to University of Michigan move-in.

Routes 3, 4, 25, 27, 32, 62 and 66 are affected by changes ranging from schedule tweaks to route realignments, according to TheRide. The agency said the updates are intended to improve on-time performance and the rider experience.

The most notable shift affects Route 3 (Huron River), which moves service from Elliot to McAuley drives near Trinity Hospital to accommodate the new Alpha House Center on McAuley. Route 66 (Carpenter-Huron Parkway) has returned to its fall and winter schedule and restored extra trips to Huron High School.

Routes 4 (Washtenaw-Local) and 62 (U-M-State) have also returned to their fall and winter schedules. Route 62 received a naming change: the southbound direction is now labeled "to State & Eisenhower/State St. Park & Ride," and the Wolverine Tower timepoint is now "State & Eisenhower."

Routes 25 (Ann Arbor-Saline Road), 27 (W. Stadium-Oak Valley) and 32 (Miller-Maple) have multiple weekday and weekend timepoint adjustments. Route 27's weekday and weekend departures at Fifth Avenue and East Washington Street now leave at 15 and 45 minutes past the hour.

Move-in detours continue

Riders on four routes face a double disruption. Routes 4, 23, 63 and 65 are on detour through Sunday, Aug. 30, due to U-M student move-in, TheRide posted on X on Friday, Aug. 21. The agency warned riders to plan ahead for anticipated delays.

Route 4 is affected by both changes: its new fall schedule took effect Sunday while its move-in detour continues through Aug. 30.

Separately, Routes 6, 25, 26, 28 and 67 will be detoured during each U-M home football game this season. Those detours begin three hours before kickoff and end one hour after the game.

Blake Transit Center still closed

The Blake Transit Center remains temporarily closed during Fourth Avenue construction, which is expected to continue through the end of 2026. Downtown boarding locations have moved to Fifth Avenue and Washington Street, and a temporary sales location is operating at 314 E. Washington St.

One free-ride weekend remains

Riders with a valid Ann Arbor District Library or Ypsilanti District Library card can ride TheRide's fixed routes for free on Saturday and Sunday through Aug. 30.

That leaves one final free-ride weekend, Aug. 29–30. The promotion began June 13.
